Announced a year ago by Carrera of America, the Batwheels license arrives in stores with two First sets and RC vehicles. Today we will test one of the First sets available, the largest of the two, the Batwheels Ready to Roll (ref 63048).
The First sets are all identical in their shapes, there are very few variations, and here we are in the classic with a 8-shaped circuit with a narrowing zone. The track length is 2.9m for a ground size of 114×87.5cm.
It’s like having the little “Batwheels Time for Action” circuit (ref 63047) with the “One fits All” expansion pack (ref 67001)
Two characters :
- Batmobile call Bam
- Redbird call Red

The box contains a power rail, 6 curves, a narrowing rail and two straight lines. Of course, there are the two levers but also supports for barriers that can be built with cardboard elements to cut out. In order to make a bridge, we also find two red supports and a gantry of two scales that we will mention later.
The seesaws
I had not yet tested this scale because all the boxes I have are with the other accessory, the turnstile.
The assembly is rather simple, just stick the 4 stickers on the rockers and put them on the axis that will be clipped on the uprights.
When a vehicle passes, the track rocker makes one or two turns around the axis then makes a pendulum. It does not have time to stop that the vehicle is already back. Very often, the passage of the vehicle restarts the movement but it sometimes happens that the car passes between two movements without touching the rocker like a ghost.
The track
For a change, and because Santa Claus usually puts the circuit under the tree, I decided to make a Christmas decoration around the circuit for this test. An area with snow and a grassy lower part of the track.
As you can see, the circuit is simple, made up of an eight with a slightly larger loop. Making an eight allows you to balance each length of track so as not to give an advantage to one player.
The cars
The vehicles are well represented and are consistent with their original series. It seems like they came out of the TV for a race in the living room.
Each one has its own color on the circuit, no chance of getting the wrong vehicle, blue for the Batmobile and red for Redbird. Each one has eyes on the windshield as well as a small mouth on the front grille which makes them alive. Small details, the bat silhouettes on the hubcaps, red for Redbird and black on a yellow background for the Batmobile.
The narrowing rail
In the different sets that I had acquired there was no this narrowing rail and it is with pleasure that I discover this rail. There is only one special rail in the First range, it is this one.
At the maximum point of the narrowing, two vehicles cannot pass at the same time, one will have to give way to the other or one of the vehicles will be ejected from the road.
The vehicles do not move as fast as those of the GO range but the sensation of speed is still there. The youngest will love it. What is practical is that even always at full speed the cars do not leave the road. The children will not be frustrated to put the car back on the track at each turn.
Here are some photos of chases in the snowy sector of the decor.
