GO set Build’n Race 3,6m (62529)

New in 2021 from the GO range, the Build’n Race is coming for the fall and will therefore be available to be present under the Christmas trees at the end of the year.
We got the small box, the Build’n Race 3.6m set (reference 62529).

While Carrera usually gives names to the box, well there they were lacking inspiration, they simply gave the sub range with the length of the track. We will see how this evolves in the following years when other boxes will have the same length!

The design of the box shows the principle well: a circuit, brick frames and accessories to fix bricks. The back of the box offers variants of layouts. It’s a good idea even if for this small circuit the variants are weak.

Let’s start with the circuit accessories. It’s with the cars that we want to discover the novelty.
2 types are present and each one has two.

The first is a very wide plate that is fixed under the track and which protrudes on each side. So you can use it as a support for a bridge by putting bricks underneath to make pillars, and/or fix bricks on the bottom to make: WHATEVER YOU WANT!

The second is fixed like the clips that used to hold the rails together and which disappeared a few years ago. Well, the clips are back in the form of brick plates. The disadvantage is that they can only be placed at the ends of the rails, which limits the possibilities.

Cars: big wait on this side. In general we buy a circuit for our cars, F1, DTM, Mario … here, it’s modular brick chassis. Each chassis is delivered with a pair of bricks, which assembled, give shape to a car and a truck. And yes a truck arrives in the GO range.

I was a little afraid about the catalog but the elements are of good quality, it is a good surprise for me. It is good plastic, not a low-end material. On the elements there are brick studs to fix elements on the bodies, so you can customize them.

You can also mix the body parts and make a red and blue vehicle.

Now that we’ve covered the props, let’s set up the track, let’s get a box of bricks and decorate this track. “Kids, lend me your Legos… Please!”

I got caught up in the construction game trying to make something nice.
Not easy, but it makes your imagination work to bring to life the few bricks you have on hand.

For the cars, I applied myself a little more, my carriage has to look great. As you can see, I borrowed my daughter’s bricks. Next time I’ll ask my son for some Star Wars and superheroes!

The box contains a track narrowing rail and this is not trivial, the aim is for the vehicles to collide and the bricks to gradually come loose with the impact. Note that the other two Build’n Race boxes also have a track narrowing with a springboard for one and a loop, which further increases the chances of losing bricks.

Some information about the vehicles

  • empty chassis 36g
  • Red body 14g (with chassis 50g)
  • Blue body 12g (with chassis 48g)
  • chassis with lego 67g

The big flaw of the boxes is that there are only 4 elements that allow you to fix bricks on the track. It’s not enough, we want more to put bricks everywhere.

Conclusion: perplexed at first, being able to mix the world of bricks and the road circuit is a good idea. But you need to have a lot of bricks to create a whole world around the circuit. Everyone can choose the theme of their choice depending on the bricks they have.
