Revell X-Treme Boat Catamaran Launched

A little over a year ago we told you about the Revell X-Treme Catamaran. A very beautiful boat when it came out of the box, with great technical qualities. Well, a body of water was found! It wasn’t very big, but will the X-treme manage to sail without any problems and bring us some driving pleasure?

Given the water, I have doubts about being able to bring the boat to full speed when I arrive.

Step 1: connect the battery, and close the boat’s case. Everything seems in order. Out of the water nothing happens, none of the remote control commands seem to work but once on the water everything works. I hold the boat while I test the rudder and the operation of the propeller. Right – left, front back, everything seems in order.

I let go of the boat and put the throttle on very gently to move away from the bank. At low speed, I do a few laps of the water.

The boat holds the road, finally the water. There are no surprises with the trajectories, and even by increasing the speed I have confidence in this catamaran, to the point of going at full power on this small playing surface. When you cut the throttle, the boat slows down very quickly, which is reassuring in the event of a problem, the inertia will not send us directly towards the bank or an obstacle.

The rudder control must be used gently to take gentle curves. If you turn the steering wheel on the remote control, the boat makes a very tight turn (U-turn) instantly with just a few dozen centimeters of radius.

The body of water was small and without waves but with the waves generated by the boat, the behavior of the boat is perfect. It passes the waves by hopping without problem. Despite my sharp turns at no time did the X-Treme capsize and I therefore did not have the opportunity to test the anti-capsize function indicated on the instructions.

I haven’t sailed with an RC boat for a very long time. I remember my 1/10 scale RC catamaran from that time and I didn’t have as much fun piloting it as with this Revell model.

A fast, maneuverable boat that doesn’t take up space on the shelf is ideal if you have a body of water available or a large swimming pool.
