New for 2024, the Carrera Hybrid range will arrive at the end of 2024. Few people have had the chance to test it, but since the announcement, we now have a little more information.
Note that the Carrera general catalog does not mention this range. It is a specific booklet that was communicated to visitors to the Nuremberg Motor Show.
In this month of September 2024, the Carrera website presents the boxes, track elements and vehicles of the range. They will all be available during November 2024, which will allow Santa’s host to be filled.
The principle
1/50th scale vehicles are driven with the help of a smartphone and a tablet. The cars are recharged using a USB-C cable.
Two game modes, free on the track (or off the track) and race mode on the track. Free mode is announced with up to 30 players simultaneously and race mode 16 racers.
Each player will be able to independently adjust various parameters of their car, such as speed, tire grip, braking effect and others depending on the presentation.
During a race on the track, if the car goes off, a system automatically redirects it on the track. There are apparently a whole bunch of small automatic functions if we look at the videos. But we will not be able to confirm until a test at the end of the year.
An online remote reading is announced. A somewhat mysterious function.
Note that the track curves have an angle of 60° as for the 1/24° Carrera track rails, while for the GO the standard is 90°. Be careful, a curve cannot be reversed. If it is a left it cannot become a right because there is a color on each side and this is important. This will limit your possibilities for creating new circuits.
Application
The vehicle control application will be available for free on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
A few screens are available on the Carrera website, here they are with some translations of the texts in German.

The Carrera website (https://www.carrera-toys.com/fr/hybrid) reveals the first sets, vehicles and accessories.
The sets
Two sets are available:
Speedway to Hell is a set with two Porsche 911 GT3 R (one yellow and one green). The track is 6 meters long and occupies an average space of 250×172 cm. Average because several circuits are possible with the elements offered. (1 start, 4 straight lines, 2 left curves and 8 right curves) Indicative price: €150
Devil Drivers is a box set with two Porsche 911 GT3 R (one black and one red). The track is 6 meters long and occupies an average space of 268×136 cm. Average because several circuits are possible with the elements offered. (1 start, 4 straight lines, 2 left curves and 8 right curves) Indicative price: €150
The cars
Carrera offers 1 model available in 6 colors, sold alone at the recommended price of €50.
We have already talked about 4 of them present in the boxes:
- Porsche 911 GT3 R “Speed Yellow” ref 51001
- Porsche 911 GT3 R “Acid Green” ref 51002
- Porsche 911 GT3 R “Black Devil” ref 51003
- Porsche 911 GT3 R “Red Devil” ref 51004
In addition, there are 2 other vehicles
- Porsche 911 GT3 R “Blue Thunder” ref 51005
- Porsche 911 GT3 R “White Lightning” ref 51006
It is possible to race up to 16 cars but to start several players will have identical cars. This will not make it easier to differentiate the cars in races. No doubt Carrera will offer new models in 2025.
